Three Ways to use Spellzone to Help you Stay Connected

blog home

Here in the UK, we are entering our third week of lockdown and we know that elsewhere in the world you are having similar experiences. At Spellzone, we want to do everything we can to make this time easier for our community.

Here are three things we have been working on over the last few weeks to help us stay connected while at home:

  1. Rainbows from around the world

Children all over the world have been creating rainbows of hope and putting them up in their windows to show members of their communities that they are not alone.

At Spellzone, we have been collecting and showcasing rainbow artwork made by our students. Many of you have already sent us your incredible and uplifting work!

If you or your students have made any rainbows and would like to share them us, please send a photo to us on Facebook or Twitter. If possible, we will publish it on our homepage or elsewhere on our site.

  2. Stay in touch with your students

Some of you are already using the new messaging system we have added to our website which allows teachers to communicate with their students. We hope this will make asking and answering questions easier for you during this time.

We are also in the process of building a rewards system for displaying students’ effort and achievement. This will include different reward icons for students depending on the activity. Watch this space!

  3. Multiplayer Games

Almost all of our games now have a multiplayer option so you can play against your friends or other Spellzone students who are logged in at the same time as you. To play any of our spelling games, choose a word list and click the football icon. We also have printable activities which you can access by choosing a word list and clicking on print icon.

Here are some of our multiplayer games:
  • What could be better for the Easter holidays than our new Egg Hunt game?

  •  Every second matters in our game-show-inspired Against the Clock.

  • Help a frog catch his dinner in Sticky Bugs

  • The perfect game for a rainy day – fill your bucket with water droplets in Raindrops

  •  If you miss going outside, Springtime Spelling might be the game to cheer you up.

  • Bouncy Anagrams will certainly keep you on your toes – the balls bounce faster with every word you get right. And if you’re feeling brave, why not have a go at our extreme version?

If you have any questions, or need assistance setting your staff and students up for remote learning, you can contact us here. Find out more about how you can use Spellzone while schools are closed here.
