Spellzone is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible learning environment so that as many users as possible can engage with our resources.

The Spelling Ability Test identifies specific spelling weaknesses and provides bespoke learning pathways for students to work through. Students can then access Spellzone on any device, at school and at home, and work at their own pace and level.

Students can also adapt Spellzone using 8 additional accessibility features. To find these:

  • Log into Spellzone
  • Click on the ‘Accessibility’ button in the top-right corner of the screen.

Let’s explore 8 ways to adapt Spellzone to meet your specific needs:

  1. Choose from 7 different fonts to find the one that works best for you. Options include: Arial, OpenDyslexic, and Verdana.

  2. Text too small? No problem! Make it larger in the accessibility pane.

  3. Click on the ‘a’ button to underline text on the website.

  4. Enhance contrast and make text easier to read by choosing from 27 different font colours and 27 different background colours.

  5. Change the spacing between letters to make words easier to read and process.

  6. Spread text out and absorb new information without feeling overwhelmed by increasing the spacing between lines.

  7. Click on the ‘Listen’ button to enable text-to-speech for the whole webpage. Pause as much as you need to and press play again when you are ready to continue.

  8. Highlight a portion of text and click on the speaker icon to enable text-to-speech for just that portion of text. Perfect for listening to instructions and pronunciation practice.

Satisfied with your accessibility settings? Spellzone will remember your preferences each time you log in. If you would like to return to the default view, simply click on ‘reset’.

Happy spelling!
